I had the opportunity last week to make yet another nappy cake - this time for our daughter-in-law who is having their first baby. We don't yet know if the baby is a boy or a girl, so the colour theme of the shower was green and white. I have explained how to make a nappy cake in the past. This is just another example. If you are attending a baby shower, these make a great present for the new parents - and fun to put together too! Really :)
This nappy cake is made with about two and a half packets of newborn Aldi nappies. I like these because the nappies are white, and they have a great reputation for being a good nappy. (Are you not glad to know this? Now, whenever you unwittingly find yourself in the midst of a conversation about nappies (!!) and baby bottoms, you can offer, "I've heard that Aldi nappies are very good..." with happy confidence :)
In the centre of this cake is a large Johnson's Baby Powder. Attached (by out-of-sight masking tape and by tucking objects into the ribbons around the cake), are:
Milgard moisturizing nappy lotion, Johnsons Baby Oil, Johnsons Baby ShampooJohnsons Baby Powder, a large container of cotton buds (under the dog's chin), Curash baby powder, Johnsons Baby Bath liquid soap, a baby brush and comb set, three baby books, three baby rattles, three baby singlets, a baby Big Bird, and a 'Taggy' dog for the top of the cake.
This cake is two-layered, although you can easily make a three-layer cake too, like the one below.
All you need is some nappies, a tray or cardboard support, some ribbons and small gifts, a bit of time, and a teensy bit of creativity. Have fun! :)
You make such fabulous nappy cakes Mum!!! They always look so absolutely amazing. I loved the one you did for me! I kept it assembled for as long as I could because I couldn't bear ruin it. I just loved looking at it :) And everything you attach to them are so handy!! Even, obviously, the nappies :)

I worked with a Lady whose daughter raved about Aldi nappies, she was at Aldi one day buying some when a lady behind her at the checkout asked if they were any good, the daughter opened up her new pack of Aldi Nappies and gave the lady some to try before buying - I think that's a very good sign how good they are.

Hi Nina :) I didn't come up with the idea for nappy cakes - I borrowed/pinched it from photos on the net. Once you set out to do one, you'll find they come together very easily - just nappies, ribbons and bits and pieces. They are fun to do :)
