Homely Household Heroes

I'd like to highlight some Household Heroes..

10 Tips for Using Apple Cider Vinegar

It was about 2am one morning that I first Discovered Apple Cider Vinegar...

I was somewhat desperately searching Google for anything that might help me with a case of *gastric reflux/heartburn* after too much spicy food late at night.  (Yes, it was my own fault.)   Mylanta wasn't helping.  But a few sips of ACV in some water worked immediately.  I was so grateful!

ACV is also touted to help with acne, weight loss, candida, high cholesterol, headaches, arthritis, toenail fungus, relief of nausea, is a tonic and flea and tick deterrent for pets, and gives shiny hair - among other uses!

You can read about it here and here, plus on a few million more sites.  Who knew?

I keep ACV in my kitchen cupboard.  It's one of those things one (obviously) shouldn't be without.

Good ole' white vinegar is seemingly just as useful.

Baking soda is another one.  Did you know that good (and cheap) old-fashioned baking soda is great for cleaning, deodorizing, stain removal, giving relief from bug-bites, and making your own toothpaste?

Asprin, olive oil and salt should all be wearing little 'Super Hero' capes in our cupboards too.

One of my favourite useful things of all is Domestos.

It helped me with two things I had been wanting help with for some time...

I don't like scrubbing out toilet bowls.  I don't suppose anybody does.  But I really don't like having
to use a toilet brush.  It seems unsanitary.

A squirt of Domestos in the bowl and all is sparkling clean.  I love it.

But even more importantly...

I've been testing out ways to get my vases sparkling clean for most of my married career..

I've ruined crystal bud vases by experimenting with bleach and other products.

Until I finally discovered that my hero in the vase-cleaning department is..

A small squirt of Domestos in a vase filled with hot water and hey presto!
This is one of my favourite things! :)

Something else that comes in awfully handy when you have some of it
in the cupboard is 250g of dark chocolate..

When you add it to these ingredients, you get a

Chocolate Molton Cake.

Yum.  How good does this look!?

Ingredients:

250g dark chocolate
125g butter
(plus more for ramekins)
3 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup S/Rflour
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 190 degrees C.
Generously butter four 6 ounce ramekin dishes.
Place the prepared molds on a baking tray and set aside. Melt the chocolates and butter together in the microwave or a double boiler. In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until pale, (about two minutes), then beat in the vanilla. Stir the egg mixture into the chocolate and then add the flour and mix well.  Divide the batter among the prepared ramekins and bake for 12 to 15 minutes.  The edges should be firm and set but the center will still look a little wet. Serve immediately with vanilla bean ice cream. You can serve them in the ramekins or run a knife around the edges to loosen and invert onto dessert plates.
